The objective of this work is to carry out a comparative analysis of the economic development of Argentina and Australia from the seventies to the present, focusing on macroeconomic, productive, international trade, and technological aspects. The significant divergence in gross domestic product per capita during this period between the two countries would be explained by multiple factors. Among others, we can highlight Argentina's macroeconomic instability, which generates structurally lower investment rates than those in Australia. At the same time, it is worth noting the high endowment of natural resources per capita of the latter, mainly focused on mining, and also harnessed to develop suppliers of that chain; a less intense phenomenon in the Argentine agrifood chain. Finally, Australia invests in technology much more than Argentina, and therefore obtains greater results in terms of innovations and industrial productivity.
