In this article, we will reflect on the ways of narrating the figure of the disappeared across different generations. To do this, we will analyze the temporary exhibition “La gorda Silvia. Mi abuela” by Ezequiel Yrurtia, a problematization by a grandson about the story of his missing grandmother. This device, installed in the ESMA Memory Site Museum (one of the largest memorial projects in the country) allows us to ask ourselves about the expansion of meanings, voices, experiences and temporalities that are introduced into the museum’s narrative from the placement of this sample as well as the new questions through which a generation of grandchildren interrogate the past; and the forms of appropriation of a strange past in which one has not participated and which at the same time is necessary to understand one’s own identity as the grandson of a missing person.
