This article traces the history of the “Peronist Coat of Arms”, an identity emblem of that movement since 1946. The changes in its uses and shifts of meaning over time are analyzed as examples of the interdependencies of categories of citizenship and class and the ambivalence regarding social antagonism typical of the peronist phenomenon. At the same time, they also illuminate certain racial inflections that appeared at that time which, due to their rather implicit character, have not received enough scholarly attention. This article documents and analyses for the first time the production and circulation of a peculiar variant of the Coat of Arms in which, unlike the official one, different skin colors are displayed.
