This paper presents a detailed picture of poverty in an important intermediate city in the south of Argentina: Bahía Blanca. Estimates of a Multidimensional Poverty Index are presented from a dataset for the city, which is unprecedented because of its sample size and coverage. It is found that, at the end of 2021, 28% of the population, almost 82 000 people, lived in households in intense to severe multidimensional poverty, of which almost 30 000 were children and adolescents, and 15% of the population lived in households with moderate to severe food insecurity. There is also a significant degree of socio-spatial segregation between vulnerable and non-vulnerable neighborhoods, especially when considering the population of children and adolescents.
