The motivation of this paper is to analyze the reasons why the benefits of economic growth did not translate into a substantial improvement in the employability of young people. What factors cause the persistence of this precarious employment situation? Is there pressure from the supply side? Do they have more difficulty than adults to obtain a job? Is this a general problem or it is present only for certain groups of young people? What role plays education and social origin in their chances of get a job? In order to answer these questions, we will analyze the situation of young people (15-24 years) from data of the Permanent Household Survey (EPH) for the period post-crisis of the Convertibility Plan (2003-2007).
