In this article we are going to address two magazines published in the city of Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 90s: La Ciudad Futura and La Mirada. We propose to account for the way in which they addressed a series of topics that appeared to be particularly relevant in a context marked by the crisis of the radical government, hyperinflation and the strong turn that Carlos Menem had imposed on the Peronist tradition. The first of them is given by the evaluation of the "democratic transition" and the interrogation about the failures of the alfonsinist and “renovador” bets. The second, by the interpretation of the menemism, what were its most relevant characteristics? What relationship did it maintain with the Peronist tradition? The third is given by the proposals aimed at constituting a new "progressive" synthesis, what features were assigned to it, what obstacles opposed to its realization?
