The economic model implemented in Argentina in the 90s, whose main pillar was convertibility, deepened the process of reprimarization and deindustrialization initiated in the 70s. The abrupt exit via devaluation led to an enormous crisis and initial chaos which were reflected, among other things, in a rearrangement of relative prices. Over the years, the industrial sector has managed to recover and gain presence. However, some of the legacies from the 90s have been difficult to reverse: in particular, the increasingly pronounced centralization of business, and the growing foreign influence in the economy. This shows that, beyond the politics of the high dollar,Argentina lacks a productive and industrial strategy as well as a broader development strategy.
