Since 1976, the Argentine dictatorship created sophisticated foreign communication plans in order to counteract the multiplication of denunciations of human rights violations in international forums. This paper analyzes the guidelines of the main two plans, specifically examining the implementation of one of their shared tactics: the visit of foreign journalists to Argentina. We study the experiences of the Spanish writer Fernando Vizcaíno Casas and the French journalist Irène Jarry, both invited to write positive articles for the military regime in the press of their respective countries. While the former was ideologically close to the Junta, the latter was less aligned, but allowed to articulate an attractive public-private alliance. Exploring various sources, some still practically unexplored, we will shed light on the implementation of an axis of these programs and propose that they were built in close monitoring of the communicative actions of their opponents.
