The present work analyzes the trajectory of the concept of realism in the mature and late work of the Hungarian philosopher György Lukács, from the "ontological turn" of his thought after 1933, when he discovers the, until there unpublished, Karl Marx's Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844, and in the beginning of his investigation of the young Hegel. To that end, I relied mainly on his Essays on Realism, Problems of Realism,The Meaning of Contemporary Realism and the extensive treatise The Pecularity of Aesthetics; which, aside its generic and methodological diversity, allow to view the continuity of Lukács' perspective on the subject over three decades and to deepen the central categories and conceptualizations that the author produced regarding this problem.
