The present article proposes itself as a reflection enssay respect of the “work of memory” that, across the tension game and resonances between pictorial image and cinematographic image, Jose Luis García's film proposes Cándido López. The battlefields (2005). We are interested in observing the dynamics not always harmonic between the different caps of statements and voices that, superposed, they form a leafy map ‐in‐progress that re‐ reads certain episode of the historical past, one specially blurred of the hegemonic stories: the war of the Triple Alliance against Paraguay (1865‐1870). With regard to the dilemmas of representation of the exercise of the force and the memories/forgetting the horror, we will detain so much in the reading that the film realizes on his principal intertext –Cándido Lopez’s pictures– as in the own putting in scene of the documentary.
