The historiography on the period of expanded democracy in Mendoza has not paid attention to the evolution of Conservative Liberals, so this research aims to examine their party engineering and their conceptions of parties and republican powers. On the one hand, it looks at the internal life of the Liberal Party in order to reconstruct its internal recompositions. On the other hand, from a relational dynamic, it analyses the representations that liberals made of themselves and of their political adversaries (UCR), and vice versa. In addition, it is interesting to know their position as an opposition party: what was their role in the legislature? what positions did they assume in the debates on federal interventions? The interpretations that the political actors made of themselves and their adversaries, based on an exhaustive analysis of the press and session diaries, provide an insight into the dynamics of Argentine political life during the first decades of the twentieth century.
