In recent years, psychological interventions have been developed to mitigate the effects of stress and anxiety in populations exposed to traumatic events. The Assisted Processing in Recent Stressful Situations (PASER) technique has proven to be effective in preventing mental disorders derived from these events, standing out for its brevity and group applicability. However, evidence on the specific effects of its component called "tapping" is limited. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of tapping in reducing emotional disturbance in those people to whom PASER was applied. Through an experimental study, the effectiveness of tapping was evaluated in 37 psychology students randomly divided into three groups: PASER with tapping, PASER without tapping and a control group. The Self-Perception of Emotional State Inventory (APEEM) was used to measure emotional disturbance, cognitive and physiological reactivity. The results indicate that both groups that received PASER achieved a statistically significant reduction in emotional disturbance, compared to the control group, although there were no differences between the group that received tapping and the group that received it without it.
