This article analyzes two Catholic journals, Criterio and CIAS, and their perspectives on national politics and Catholic Church in the scenario opened by the arrival of Perón in 1973 and closed by the coup d'état of March 1976. It is proposes as hypothesis that, although these journals reflect the breadth of theological and political perspectives that existed in Argentine Catholicism, they also contained some of the axes on which Catholicism began a restructuring and redefining path of its internal alignments and its positions in a shifting political scenario. After presenting its objects of analysis, the article advances in the analysis of the positions assumed by both publications between 1973 and 1976, considering Perón’s death as a moment of profound alteration of their perspectives. Likewise, so that the viewpoints of both magazines don’t appear isolated, we incorporate a brief overview of the other actors stances in the Catholic network, particularly in the ecclesiastical hierarchy.
