While the western area of Córdoba remains one of the most neglected and vulnerable regions in the province, the potential for tourism development, particularly in rural and nature tourism, emerges from public policy initiatives. Our objective is to analyze the potential for tourism development linked to the Chancaní Provincial Reserve and the Traslasierra National Park, and to investigate the perceptions of tourism within the Chancaní community. A qualitative methodological approach, involving interviews, observations, and documentary analysis, was employed. The findings reveal a limited correlation between the discursive aspects of public policy and the narratives of the local villagers.
