The work reflects on the dynamics and the the proceeding of the socialists in the trade union movement in the early years of the 1940 with the intention of collaborating to a better knowledge of the problems of the left and the workers’ organization. We will try to identify the different positions and sectors in conflict, highlighting the discussions within the General Confederation of Labour until its division in 1943. We will analyze the opinion of the pro-union guild cadres, the role of the Socialist Guild Information Commission, the leaders of the workers’ centre, among other aspects. We will do it, mainly, through internal sources of the Socialist Party, its newspaper La Vanguardia, trade journals, and documents of the labour centre and publications of other political currents, among others.
