This paper analyzes the profiles of the mayors elected in 2015 and 2019 in the province of Buenos Aires, investigating the distribution of gender and of political forces, as well as the recruitment spaces observed at the local level. We carried out a prosopography that included a database with dimensions referring to the profiles and labor and political trajectories of the 181 individuals who were elected mayors in the 135 municipalities of the province of Buenos Aires. The analysis shows us, firstly, a male majority in office; secondly, the relevance of the exercise of municipal positions in the mayors’ previous trajectories, which is presented as a cross-party phenomenon and not as an exclusive feature of the peronist mayors; and, thirdly, the novelty represented by the victories the PRO obtained since 2015 in various municipalities of the province.
