This paper describes the use of water vapor produced by a solar linear Fresnel concentrator for disinfection of substrates as an alternative to the use of methyl bromide, which seeks to be eliminated in Salta’s cultivation, especially in plantations of snuff. The thermal model was performed using the program SIMUSOL, adjusting with the measured values; this makes it feasible to simulate the behavior of equipment under various operating conditions. The effectiveness of the process could be checked by a count of pathogens and weed germination tests in the treated substrate.
