What can photographic artifacts tell us about history and war? Argentine artist Gabriel Valansi has developed a work that focuses on war, utilizing both photographs and complex visual artifacts. His early War Trilogy —Fatherland, Zeitgeist and Epílogo— traces an authorial route from analog photography to a different format that foreshadows the later digital work of the artist. The relationship between photography, contemporary art and history will be discussed here through the analysis of these images, specially its visions, supports and devices.
