Geothermal energy is energy stored in the form of heat under the ground surface. Very low-enthalpy geothermal energy is the one that can be used in the shallowest part of the subsoil and it is potentially useful for the air-conditioning of buildings. The advances and use of geothermal energy are observed in an increasing number of different countries in the world. These very low-enthalpy geothermal methods depend on the thermally improved mixtures to increase conductivity around heat conducting pipes and on the configuration and arrangement of the pipes where the heat exchange takes place. One of the most influential factors in these mixtures is the thermal conductivity of the materials. Consequently, the thermal conductivity of different materials is studied; soil-cement mixtures with different cementitious content and also different types of rocks are compared. The thermal conductivities of the analyzed materials are measured and estimated and the results obtained in heating and cooling processes observed through a thermographic camera are presented.
