This paper deals with the discursive uses of the form a ver as a mark that evinces the subjective positioning on self or other’s discourse. Within the framework of the dialogical approach to argumentation and polyphony (EDAP), our study examines the dialogical-argumentative instructions the discourse marker comprises and explores the forms which are used in similar contexts in French. In order to do this, we analyse utterances in both River Plate Spanish and French obtained from blogs, social networks and web comments. The qualitative analysis of our data reveals that the enunciation of a ver exhorts to recover as its dialogical cause a general discourse frame that beckons the passage from an initial discourse X to the need of a closer and deeper consideration of X. In French, affinities are registered with the forms voyons, voyons voir, ben voyons, bah voyons, écoute/ écoutez and allons.
