It has been discussed, within the field of visual semiotics, the difficulty of interrelating theoretical and methodological levels, so as to make it possible to estimate their heuristic strength. In this sense, although the understanding of visual artistic production as a semantic-pragmatic artifice that demands to be updated (i.e. text) is presented as pertinent, the problem remains in the establishment of a method of analysis that establishes more specific guidelines in the course of such interpretative updating, according to its specificity. Our objective in this work is to discuss a methodology for the aesthetic-artistic production approach. To this end we present: a) firstly previous considerations on the notions of text and interpretative cooperation between model reader and model author;b) secondly, we propose a methodology of analysis of aesthetic-artistic production based on the interrelation between the typology of the modes of sign production proposed by Umberto Eco and the Peircean triad: interpretant, object and representamen; and finally, c) conclude with a reflection on the particularities of this theoretical-methodological contribution and its possibilities of expansion.
