This research deals with a detailed view of the conformational space of the three hydroxylated anthocyanidins, such as pelargonidin, cyanidin and delphinidin. Rigid scans of the dihedral angles of interest were carried out to understand the chemical structures of this type of compounds, as well as the different spatial arrangements adopted. Planar (P) and non-planar (Z) conformers from this comprehensive systematic search were analyzed at the theoretical level B3LYP/6-311++G**.Through rigid rotations and subsequent full optimizations of both the maximum and the minimum energies, estimates of the energy variations in relation to the flexibility of these compounds were achieved. Therefore, energy constraints were estimated based on the different bond free rotations. A complete and detailed nomenclature is shown, in order to speed up the study of these compounds, grouping conformers according to common structural characteristics. The geometric features of the optimized conformers were analyzed, highlighting similarities and differences between them. Derived from the geometric analysis, novel structural contributions were found that are not in line with the typical representation of oxonium salt for these compounds.
