The aim of this article is to analyze the construction of wartime landscapes in the photographic production of the Chaco War through the images of two Bolivian photographers: Torrico Zamudio and Luis Bazoberry. Using a methodological approach grounded in critical visual culture studies and the concept of landscape, the article argues that these Bolivian photographers contributed to a fragmented construction of a wartime landscape. Their work highlights a vision of a hostile and devouring nature, which, along with other visual productions related to the war, challenged preexisting Bolivian national landscapes and imaginaries.
