The Santa Catalina Urban Reserve (Corrientes, Argentina) is an area intended for the conservation of ecological systems, with priority given to the preservation of native fauna and flora and conforms one of the spaces of natural value protected in the city. In order to identify the ecosystem services provided by the most important species of the Fabaceae family in the Reserve, information on the following categories of environmental goods and services of fourteen species were compiled: habitat function (shelter, nursery, provision of spaces habitable to wild fauna and flora); production function (pollination, medicinal resources, biogeochemical substances, food, genetic resources, genetic material and evolution in wild animals and plants); regulatory functions (nutrient regulation, soil support and disturbance buffering) and information functions (historical information) in all cases. The species found in the Santa Catalina Urban Reserve represent environmental assets in the provision of ecosystem services that sustain life; they are a source of biodiversity, they protect ecological processes as well as cultural and spiritual values; they provide environmental goods and services (animals, plants, water, air, landscape, etc.), and play a fundamental role in mitigating climate change and other natural disasters.
