This article analyzes the process of construction of globalmilitary networks in the River Plate area in the mid-19th century through the trajectories of sorne European and American adventurers, corsairs and militiamen who, after developing extensive regionaland even transatlantic careers, were integrated to the sea and land torces of Montevideo. These networks facilitated that many itinerant fighters could find livelihoods, settle themselves in the port cities and continue their careers in the localarmies. In addition, it will demonstrate how the continuous wars and revolutions in Europe and Latin America since the end of the 18th century shaped a global military labour market used by many military chiefs and governments around the world.
