This work presents new strategies for energy efficiency regarding the waterstorage household heater. This way, significant energy savings were achieved ranging from 675 kWh/y for a single dweller to 2.490 kWh/y for a seven-person family. For this last case, it is proposed to use three water heaters (instead of the large 150liters@75°C heater): a compact (20 liters@50°C) in the kitchen, one average (50liters@45°C) in a bathroom and the 150liters one for backup in the other bathroom. So, and using a timer (disconnected 8 hours per day) in every heater the annual consumption is reduced from 7.140 kWh to 4.650 kWh. Finally, this case is compared with using a single 150liters@75°C heater fueled by natural gas. Although the fuel cost of natural gas is about one third of electricity, the electrical heater becomes 25 % lower cost by including other costs (maintenance&security issues) related of using gas within homes.
