This is summarized in the slogan “America first” of the current administration. Based on this prism, this article seeks to analyze the impacts and dynamics of the trade war in Latin America, observing: aspects of the United States commercial relationship with the region; the impact of tariff and para-tariff measures; the renegotiation of NAFTA; the geopolitical condiments of commercial negotiations; the signature of the CPTPP; the political movements opposed to the resumption of United States hegemony in the region and the advance of China in Latin America.
