Antonio Benítez Rojo uses chaos theory to make a new interpretation of some aspects of Caribbean culture, as in the case of fusion, one of the conceptual axes , whose explanatory efficacy , our writer has put in doubt. Benitez Rojo is a critic of modernity, but more accurately, a “Atlantic modernity”. The project of modernity is Western and Atlantic Ocean route of communication with America. However, it is possible to draw other consequences of these relationships between culture and movement. There is a system of relations between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean that leads to transformations of cultural order that Benitez Rojo perceives and describes in his essay.
