The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance in biodiesel production (laboratory scale) from different vegetable oils (grocery and used in cooking) by transesterification with methanol, using different basic catalysts (NaOH and KOH) and different reaction times and give technical processing of used oils for frying in a value-added product and environmentally friendly viability. Grocery (Cocinero alto oleico AVC y Cada Día AVCD) and oil used in cooking food (cocinero alto oleico AVCU) as raw materials three types of vegetable oils were used. Obtain biodiesel transesterification was performed using methanol and basic catalysts (NaOH and KOH) at 60, 90 and 120 minutes reaction. The reaction time has had a positive effect on the production of biodiesel, 60min to the transesterification reaction of the three oils was incomplete, while only 90 minutes was completed with the AVC. The physicochemical characteristics of the bioAVC, bioAVCD and bioAVCU biodiesel obtained after 120 minutes of reaction, meet the recommended by the current regulations With NaOH and KOH catalysts showed no significant differences in performance values. The color of biodiesel depends on the oil used as a raw material and not the type of catalyst.
