This article aims to reflect on the effects of racist discourses against the Mapuche People on the configuration of common sense and on the social-political scenario in northwestern Chubut (Patagonia, Argentina). Understanding discourse as a social practice, we will analyze three scenes: the eviction of the Mapuche Tehuelche community of Boquete Nahuelpan (1937); the closure of a traditional road to one of the families of this community (2021); and the public and incriminating accusation by the governor of Chubut against the Mapuche Tehuelche community (2024). Even though they occurred at different times, share a common denominator: racism. As a methodology, we made an analysis of some of the speeches that circulated in each scene, which were extracted from historical archives and journalistic notes published in newspapers and other media. Racism towards indigenous peoples in Argentina is not only constitutive and structural in state formation, but it is also worryingly prevalent.
