The article examines, first, the problem of Husserlian reason with regard to the ontotheological tradition. It shows the link between metaphysics as second philosophy and the analysis of factuality. It is a factum that the flow of consciousness develops in such a manner that a cosmos can be constituted in it as a rational unity. This fact, and the teleology implied therein, requires an explanation that goes beyond the scope of first philosophy or ontology, and has important historical antecedents in the ontotheological tradition. Second, the role of religious experience in first philosophy and in metaphysics is examined. Attention is given to the levels of a theology that arises naturally or previously to the epoche, a pure theology, an empirical theology identified with metaphysics, and a new elaboration of natural theologies. The aim is to establish what religious consciousness, analyzed in its essential features by first philosophy, can contribute to the factual particularity of second philosophy. With this purpose, the article finally examines views on Revelation advanced by post-Husserlian phenomenology. They have their center of gravity in exclusion (P. Ricoeur), propaedeutics (J.-L- Marion), ethical convergence (E. Levinas), inclusion (M. Henry) and reflexive explication (H. Duméry). It is concluded that a structure for the reception for these problems, in Husserlian second philosophy, is to be found in such phenomena as horizonality and an excess that can be modalized in different ways such as surplus, saturation, or a reference to the immemorial.
