Based on research experiences, both our own and those of others, that preceded us, in this article we present results of inquiries made about the characteristics of the audience that visits the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes of the City of Buenos Aires and about the way in which it interacts with the spaces and works of art on exhibition. On the one hand, we present the progress of an investigation carried out from the qualitative approach, and particularly focused on the observation method. On the other hand, we present some of the dimensions that we consider theoretically relevant in relation to the public –belonging to the age group comprised between 15 to 25 years– after having implemented a survey, one of the most used data production techniques within the quantitative approach. Finally, we point out some of the lines of inquiry to be developed and expanded in a later instance.
