The concept of “image of thought” is related to cinema, though not in an obvious way, since what Deleuze understood by cinema has specific philosophical dimensions. This relationship can be seen in the course (1984-1985), where he presents a broader program, with the digressions of a lecture, than what he shows in The Movement-Image and The Time-Image. From the hypothesis of a becoming that emerges as a line of flight, we revisit the Deleuzian concepts developed from “Third World cinema” and “women’s cinema”. The latter was approached differently at the time by Teresa de Lauretis, using some of the same directors mentioned by Deleuze. Critical variations on certain Deleuzian hypotheses are presented, expanding the cartography to other productions from Latin America or shaped by a Third World imaginary. Additionally, the mutations of the “image of thought” in today’s “audiovisual a priori” and other non-binary becomings are contextualized.
