This article analyzes the role of the Toba/Qom language in Intercultural Bilingual Education (IBE) in Chaco, Argentina, and explores the potential contributions of the materials produced for the YouTube channel “Voces Tobas” (Toba Voices), which are considered both pedagogical resources and tools for language strengthening, in a context marked by the displacement of Toba/Qom by Spanish. Drawing on theoretical frameworks from linguistic anthropology and educational studies, this research connects ethnographic fieldwork conducted in IBE schools—where the indigenous language is taught as a school subject—with a collaborative project involving Toba/ Qom speakers in the production of podcasts and videos. Through a critical reflection on the limitations of bilingualism management in IBE—particularly regarding the treatment of orality and the recognition of the community’s communicative practices—this article argues that initiatives like “Voces Tobas” open up new possibilities for rethinking the role of Indigenous languages in education.
