This article reports findings from a study that examines the use of soft information and politainment to communicate governmental actions and decisions on Instagram. We conducted a content analysis of 1,290 feed posts published on verified accounts belonging to 12 elected women holding executive office. Overall, hard information predominated (83%); when soft information/politainment appeared, it was used mainly for governmental and institutional content (58%), suggesting a hybridization between a soft register and government-related themes. The communicated leadership style leaned toward hard skills (83%), with variation across leaders. Pearson’s χ² tests and Cramer’s V indicate statistically significant associations of moderate effect size between individual leaders and the variables analyzed. Although the study is exploratory and its generalizability is limited, the findings indicate that politainment serves strategic functions in governmental communication and coexists with substantive information.
