In this paper I attempt to answer two questions that the chapter of the Critique of Pure Reason “The Schematism of the pure Concepts of the Understandig” usually raises: (1) Which is the systematic role of schematism within the context of the Critique of Pure Reason? (2) Is the schema of a pure concept of the understanding a rule? I propose that the schema in general is not a rule but a peculiar general sensibilization of a rule and that the aim of the chapter on schematism, is to explain how this peculiar sensibilization takes place within the frame of a proper problematic set out by the “Analytic of Principles” Keywords: Kant, schema, imagination.
