The main goal of the current study was to implement an educational intervention focused on the prevention and control of Chagas disease that was carried out among primary school students living in rural communities from Tucumán province, Argentina. The proposal included three phases: the inquiry into the initial conceptions of the students about the disease and its vector using individual surveys, followed by the design and implementation of participatory workshops, and a subsequent survey. In this study we show the activities developed during the workshop and the results obtained from both surveys. The few changes in some of the children initial conceptions highlighted the need for a deeper understanding of the representations shared by the community, and the importance to keep working on creating educational strategies centered for preventing Chagas disease.
