The focus of this paper is the function of lithic instruments from an integrated production space located in the highlands of the Ambato Valley, Catamarca, Argentina, during the sixth to eleventh century AD. We performed a functional analysis of the lithic artifacts from four Aguada sites, LVR3, LVR4, LVR5 and LVS2, which are all located on the western slope of the valley. The material is from stratigraphic excavations and surface collections. In combination with data from previous analyses, this material allows us to postulate that during this period, inside and near corrals, cultivation terraces, and houses, people carried out activities related to raising and slaughtering animals
