In this study, the thermal behavior of a house constructed using quincha technology, located in the high mountain Andean region (Potrerillos) corresponding to the bioenvironmental zone V- Cold, is analyzed. Hygrothermal monitoring was conducted for two different situations of the house based on the increase in the mass of the earth envelope, during both heatwaves and cold spells. It was determined that the increase in earth mass in the envelope did not favorably impact summer as a bioclimatic strategy, as it exceeded comfort temperatures. On the contrary, it behaved favorably during winter, reaching maximum comfort levels of 33%. This strategy effectively accumulated heat and mitigated the temperature difference between the exterior and interior. In summer, the total thermal energy required to achieve comfort doubled (increased by 95%), while in winter, the total thermal energy required for heating decreased by 32%. Based on the results, it was evident that the increase in earth mass improved the degree of comfort during winter but disadvantaged comfort during summer. Additional bioclimatic strategies are necessary to dissipate the excess accumulated heat indoors during the summer.
