Abstract

This work addresses the study of the changes that have occurred in the occupational structure of recent Argentine society between 2016 and 2023 in terms of sociolabor inequalities –in matters of employment quality and remuneration-. It seeks to contribute to the understanding of the processes of socio-labor divergence that take place in countries with development models subject to structural inequalities, as has been the case in Argentina for more than four decades. In this way, the main hypothesis is that, given the persistence of a heterogeneous economic-occupational development model that systematically runs through the functioning of urban labor markets, no substantive convergences would have occurred in the social structure of work in terms of the quality of jobs and the gaps in remuneration for work in the years under analysis, while the cycles of recession and crisis operate to accentuate these structural inequalities. The findings reflect the negative effects of segmentation in the labor market. The analysis use microdata from the Permanent Household Survey (EPH) of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) in its continuous mode for certain control years.
