The North of Patagonia has historically been characterized as a territory with economies of enclave, linked mainly to oil and gas, and extensive livestock or selective agriculture. However, since the last decades, the region has deepened its role as a provider of natural resources in a context of deepening the extractivist model. To the hydrocarbon, mining and forestry exploitation are added, among others, real estate speculation in tourist regions. This advance generates conflicts with traditional agrarian activities, such as frutihorticulture, supported by family-based farms or extensive livestock. The purpose of this paper is to characterize the frutihorticulture and the tourism from the territorial transformations and new dynamics that take place in a context of advance of activities that are considered extractive. This analysis starts from considering the territory as a socially constructed, defined and delimited space based on power relations. The work is based on the combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, together with statistical, cartographic and historical-comparative procedures based on the analysis of case studies.
