On February 13, 1896, was created the Scholl of Philosophy and Letters (FFyL) in the Buenos Aires University . We think that the foundation of a university institution is not a university event. In the case of the FFyL the elites argued the need for a "complete and harmonious" nation. The objective of this paper is to raise some issues of the moment of the creation and consolidation of the FFyL in three dimensions: the dynamics of institutional and academic demarcation, the politics of the elites, in dialogue with the choral dimension of ideas between 1896 and 1930. The University Reform movement of 1918 opened a path to challenge the forms of distribution of power within the University, renew teachers' lists, deploy research institutes, review knowledge, question professionalism while strengthening the senses and missions of that FFyL.
