This paper addresses the dynamics of the preHispanic, colonial and present-day populations of the Cusi Cusi landscape (portion of the Upper Basin of the Río Grande de San Juan, Jujuy, Argentina), from the perspective of internodal archaeology. Analyzing its limits and possibilities for the case study, it is postulated as the main axis that the micro-region cannot be analytically defined, in its entirety, as a nodal or internodal space, but that its characterization and study in these terms requires attention to various diachronic and synchronic population dynamics for the same space. As a solution, to the application of the conceptual categories of node/internode in the analysis of archaeological materialities, it is added the criterion of the logics of dwelling the landscape of the different groups that occupied and occupy the micro-region. In turn, it is understood that the nodal and internodal categories are not adequate to study the dynamics of the pastoralist logic; instead, it is considered more pertinent to approach the landscape of these societies in terms of activity spaces. Ultimately, it is the particularities of each of the groups in question that call for the analytical definition of a space as nodal or internodal and what defines the usefulness of such a distinction.
