In this article, we will depart from the iconographic analysis of an artesonado belonging to the sotocoro of a church from Leon dated in the 15th century. In it, creatures with origins related with Greco-Roman mythology, will occupy the same representational space together with scenes of tilts, dances and court banquets; shields and heraldic emblems of Castile and León. Therefore, we will examine the symbolic intention that sublies to the functionality of this object of daily use: evoking an exegetic and eschatological speech tied to the reaffirmation of the papal and royal Power. Hereby, we will see how the sacred and profane speeches are interrelated, have tensions and dialogs in a symbolic - mythical weave.
