This paper analyzes the evolution of the central features of the business elite during the Kirchner governments, and at the same time identifies continuities and ruptures regarding the legacy of the neoliberal policies of the 1990s. Focusing on the 200 companies with the highest annual revenues (excluding financial firms and agricultural) during the period from 2001 to 2014, three central aspects of this elite are studied. First, the overall level of economic concentration is assessed by distinguishing different sub-periods and the factors behind their evolution. The focus is also set on major changes in the sectoral profile of the elite. Finally, the paper analyzes the different fractions of capital in the sample (foreign capital, private national capital, associations and state companies).
