This essay-like article analyzes the progressive building and transformation of a Catholic intellectual field between World Wars I and II. From the debates that accompanied the emergence and development of the Criterio magazine, the text aims to understand the particularities of Catholic intellectuals at different times, and the type of links they made with the Church's authorities within the framework of different projects for organizing laity that they launched.
