In this paper we will address the question of gender in the metallurgical industry in Argentina starting with the Philips factory, between the 1930s and 1960s. To do this we will reconstruct the history of the company and the participation of women in its production, as well as their participation in the union struggles, political actions, and gender relations within the metallurgical union. We aspire to highlight the central presence of women and the gender issue in a predominantly male industrial sector and, based on the reconstruction of workers' experiences, to think about the gendered dimension of union representation.
