Since the resurgence of concern about the trafficking in women for the purpose of sexual exploitation, at the end of the 20th century, prostitution has once again been at the center of public debate, being women victims of trafficking and traffickers, the central figures of it. But gradually, the figure of the client has also begun to arouse interest, appearing in various discourses, through the category “prostituyente”, as a particular type of person, who embodies a repudiable sexual identity. In this work I made an approach to the representations that are shaping this figure, and that oscillate between pathologization, criminalization and moral reprobation. I am interested in analyzing the process by which the men who pay for sex becomes a public concern.
