The recent creation of the Ministry of Human Capital in Argentina invites us to make a genealogical review of this concept, which for centuries went from being considered ethically unacceptable whenever some amateur economist proposed it, to circulate with total naturalness in practically all social spheres in recent years. We will argue that this required its transformation into a social value, which, disseminated by the rhetoric and doctrines of management and, as part of the neoliberal ideology by international organizations, permeated all spheres, guiding the behaviour even of individuals who had nothing to do with the world of business and business management. Finally, we will review the meaning that this concept takes when in Argentina it becomes a Ministry and some implications that can be derived from this.
