This exploratory study comprises the results obtained after conducting a survey in April 2025 among mining suppliers in the town of Puerto San Julián. This survey was conducted by students and faculty from the School of Administration and Economics of the San Julián Academic Unit of the UNPA (National University of Patagonia). The students previously participated in the survey development workshop proposed for this activity. Mining was established in the town with the implementation of the Cerro Vanguardia gold and silver mine. Since the mid-1990s, this mining industry gradually reshaped the town's socioeconomic structure. This was accompanied by the arrival of population from other areas and the establishment of Cerro Vanguardia's supplier and subcontractor companies, which generated new economic activities and jobs. Subsequently, local entrepreneurs began to establish their own companies to also participate in the mining business. The objective of this study is to analyze the types of suppliers available in the area, their impact on the number of stable jobs they generate, and their dependence on mining companies in the Santa Cruz region.
